10-min interview with Interior Designer Victoria Von Westenholz

We sit down with Victoria, interior designer and co-owner with her father of Westenholz Antiques and Interior Decoration. To discuss designing roomsets, being a mum, and adult dungarees of course!

Growing up, did you always know you wanted to get into interior design?

It was always something I was aware of because of my father and I had huge amount of respect for him. But it wasn’t always something I wanted to do for a living growing up… but I studied art and worked at Christies which I LOVED but I found was more drawn to aesthetic of interiors after all!

What do you love most about designing rooms?

Ohh… I really love making colours work together. When you plans become reality / come to life and the room comes alive

You have quite an eclectic eye for design, and we love how daring you are with mixing prints and colour. You definitely are not afraid of pattern! Who or what, would you say has the biggest impact on your unique design style?

Well I have to say my dad! We grew up with an ever changing canvas at home… new curtains or wallpaper or new pieces of furniture would come and go at home. So mixing and matching feels completely natural to me

If you weren’t designing rooms, what other career path might you be doing?

I have an idea to make dressing gowns! There is nothing more luxurious than a great towelling robe!

You are a mum of two, how do you find balancing motherhood with running a successful business?

At times stressful, but highly rewarding! I make time for my children. I make sure we bike together to school every morning and I try to steer clear of work at weekends as much as possible!

What advice would you give to any mums who want to re-style their home? Do you have any quick and easy tips to freshen up an outdated room?

Just go for it - a refresh is life enhancing! Reduce clutter and replace with things you truly love. Make the space your own and trust your instincts.

Would you say you are quite house-proud at home? Do you have any advice for keeping a home tidy and ready for guests with little ones running around?!

I have to admit that I am very house proud and extremely tidy! My husband and kids always complain about it but I try to hide their things wherever I can!

Being a mum and interior designer, what’s your favourite go-to fashion piece that you pretty much live in, if you could!

Dungarees of course! Failing that… a great pair of jeans and an oversized cosy jumper

And finally, we have to ask! What do you like most about our new adult dungarees? And which colour do you like best?

They are just perfect! They are so cosy inside and my most comfortable piece of clothing by far. I wish I could wear them every day but my clients may complain!
